The New York New York City had a Mission Tour at the Woodside Chapel in Queens on Wednesday, September 18. Our Mission Leaders, President Lance Taylor and Sister Robyn Taylor spoke to us. Elder Robert M. Daines, a General Authority Seventy, and his wife also spoke to us. Sister Taylor spoke about being plugged in to the right power-the Holy Ghost. President Taylor asked us what makes our purpose different than the Red Cross? (We offer Salvation.) Sister Daines talked about knowing that our redeemer lives. Elder Daines taught us more about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how to invite others to come unto Christ. We follow Christ so that we can change and then tell others about Him. After the meetings, Elder and Sister Daines went to dinner with all of the senior missionaries and with our Mission Leaders. It was such a good day and evening. After dinner, Elder and Sister Daines gave each senior missionary couple a package of truffles.
We felt a little connected to Elder Daines: Elder Daines’ father, Robert Daines, was one of Brian’s professor’s at BYU. He was one of the sharpest professors there. His younger sister Katherine, taught with Brian this past summer at FSY (For Strength of Youth) in Frostburg, Maryland. She is an excellent teacher and story-teller. Also, Brian’s sister Teri went to high school with Elder Daines’ sister, Michelle Craig.
