November 13, 2024: Job Seekers

We have been very busy helping job seekers. We meet with them in person, by zoom and on the phone.

Last night I did a “mock college admission interview” in person with a girl who is applying to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She is trying to get a scholarship and the real interview was today. She texted me right before she went into the interview and again when the interview was over. She said that things went really well!

We have also been helping a nanny who interviewed for a position with a family who has a four month old baby. We helped her with her proposed nanny contract. She should find out by the end of the week if she gets that job.

A few days ago, I met with a job seeker from New Jersey by phone. We always pray at the beginning of each meeting, even over the phone. He said that he wanted me to say the prayer, because he is not used to praying. After the prayer, he said that it was “such a pretty prayer.” And I could tell that he meant that as a compliment.

I cried today over a different job seeker. I have been working with him for about a month. (By phone.) He was born and raised in a small town in New York a few hours from NYC. He has a wife and small baby but can not find a job in that area. He also has tattoos on his face. I have been praying for him.

We seem to learn something new every day and we can see the Lord’s help in what we are doing everyday too!
