May 2025: Help Comes When Needed

Four job seekers needed some help with interviewing; each of them had upcoming interviews scheduled. I’ve never had this many needing interview help all at once. Two of them wanted help by doing mock interviews with me for interviews within the next two days. One of our Employment Services Regional Directors, Erica, scheduled her once annual visit from Salt Lake to train and observe us at the same time. We were planning on learning more about networking. I felt bad that I could not conduct the mock interviews but needed to honor the commitment to spend the time with our director. She is very good at what she does, always provides us with helpful insights, and is committed to helping.

She decided to change the training (not at our request) at the last minute to interviewing. During Erica’s training, she showed us a video of some great tips on how to interview for a job. It is only 30 minutes long. Instead of the mock interviews, I sent the video to all of four job seekers with my endorsement. The two with scheduled interviews both viewed the video and used its information in their interviews. Results? One received a job offer, and the other advanced to the next level of interviews. By the way, you can find the interviewing video here: https://video.byui.edu/media/Power+2+Become+2018+-+Christopher+Galbraith/0_5m0ywo4q.

Help came when needed. As Pres. Henry Eyring stated, prayers for helping others are most often answered. When job seekers need help, we often receive the resources they need just one or two days before, and then realize why we received them when we share them. This week, I’ve had job seekers who needed help with interviewing. I shared my usual resources but then had an extra resource for them that met their timing. We know where the help comes from. God is good.
