I almost didn’t recognize him. I saw a jobseeker, who had been very discouraged the last time I visited with him. He was sitting in the foyer at church. An immigrant from Paraguay, he generally presented himself as solemn, somewhat mad at U.S. immigration policy, mad at entitled Americans, and at his living arrangements in the U.S. (Shelters are pretty bad). He is very smart and skilled at website building and optimizing. But without papers was unable to land a job. I helped him with a resume, and always helped to boost his confidence and cheer him up when he came in.
I didn’t recognize him at first because of his countenance change. He was no longer discouraged and angry. He was exctied to tell me about his new job as contractor building and maintaining a website. I could tell just by looking at him. He was much more relaxed and had a nicer countenance about him. A job and the Hand of God in helping one get that job, change a person’s outlook and countenance.
