Our office is on the edge of Greenwich Village in Manhattan. Apollo Bagels, thought by many New Yorkers to be the best bagel in the city is in Greenwich Village, just a few blocks away from our employment center offices. We tried them last week and they didn’t disappoint. We went at 11:00 AM to avoid the crowds–the city has threatened to close them if their customers’ lining up continues to block the entrance to adjacent businesses–but there was still a line coming out the door. Worth it. Very tasty bagels. On the way back to the office, bagels in tow, we saw Julianne Moore, walking the opposite way chatting on her phone. Maybe she was heading to Apollo Bagels. But are Apollo bagels the best? See our verdict below…
A few weeks ago we tried the other “best bagels in NYC” shop, Broad Nash bagels, located about 8 blocks from our apartment. They were fresh, chewy, and delicious. They also offered a much wider selection of flavors, including blueberry and my favorite, whole wheat. Both shops had tasty bagels, but we give the nod to Broad Nosh. They also had a line coming out the door, but the extra flavors gave them the edge.
