We spoke to a job seeker today who was looking for direction. He is a professional with excellent experience and a strong record of achievement. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to find a job for over one year and is frustrated. He has felt recently that he should look for a job in Utah. To explore jobs in Utah, I referred him to a Utah employment center. When he called, he discovered that the center manager is his former stake president and someone he has a strong relationship with. He felt like it was a nice confirmation from God to continue his search in Utah. We felt the same way.
Also, Brian had cataract surgery this week. We walked through Central Park to the surgery center, and then took a Lyft home. The Lyft driver had a cross hanging from his mirror. Brian asked him about it. He told us about how important Jesus is in his life, and how he didn’t like to miss going to mass. He was very sincere and showed the kind heart of a Christian. He dropped us off at the optical shop where Brian asked them to replace the left lens in his glasses with just plain, clear glass. When the woman who was helping us saw our tags and “Jesus Christ” on them, she talked about her son being a born again Christian after being involved in some “bad stuff.” Now, he is always telling her to be a believer. She lit up with smiles as she told us about her son. We’re grateful for those in our midst standing for Christ. The surgery was a success, just one uncomfortable night.
