Today Brian and I rode the subway to Inwood with our friends, Elder and Sister Bringhurst and Sister Wangsguard for the Mission Zone Conference. Our mission leaders, President Lance Taylor and Sister Robyn Taylor and the assistants to the president each spoke to us about Christlike attributes. One of these was HOPE…who do you know who needs hope in their lives? Hope gives you confidence that God will magnify your diligent, righteous efforts. Another Christlike attribute that they talked about was Honesty/Integrity. The Savior trusts those who have integrity of heart. How will you measure your life? We also had a special Christmas lunch afterwards.
Elder Tippets is a senior missionary from Boise, Idaho. He brings his shoe shine kit to all of the zone conferences and shines the shoes of any young missionaries who want it done. There is always a long line of about 20 young elders waiting to have their shoes shined by Elder Tippets. Elder Tippets and his wife also come to our Employment Center every Thursday and translate for any Spanish speakers who come that day. The Tippets are truly Christlike.
Reading about the shoe-shining got me all choked up – how nice is that!
