April 27, 2025: Brooklyn 4th Ward

Sister Neff, the other full time Employment Services Missionary, was asked to speak in Sacrament Meeting today in the Brooklyn 4th Ward. Brian and I wanted to go and hear her speak so we all left our apartment building 1.5 hours before the Sacrament Meeting start time. (We needed to travel 9.5 miles from our apartment building in Manhattan to the church building in Brooklyn.) We were taking the subway, changing trains once and then taking a bus within 2 blocks of the church. And then walking the last 2 blocks. As we began our journey, we found out that the Q line was not running because of track work (or some other issue) and we worried that we would not get Sister Neff to church on time. Brian was navigating on his phone…. he said that we really needed to catch the correct bus, because it would be a 15 minute wait for the next bus…..we came out of the last Subway ride and saw the 8B bus stop that we thought that we wanted but realized that that bus would be going in the wrong direction. We knew that we were close to the correct bus stop and started looking around. A bus came from across the street and turned the corner and we ran to see if that was the correct bus. A man said, “Hey, are you trying to go to church? If so, that is your bus!” And he hopped on the bus too. We found out that his name is Sabba and he said that he doesn’t usually go to church that way, but today he did and we were soooo glad because we were able to catch that bus and made it to church 2 minutes before Sacrament Meeting started and Sister Neff could give her talk! God is good and I think that God placed Sabba there to help us catch the right bus.
