April 12, 2025: New York New York YSA Stake Conference

Saturday we attended the evening session of the New York New York YSA Stake Conference on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. Our Mission Leaders were the first speakers. Sister Robyn Taylor said that her parents were a little sad that they wouldn’t get to see Robyn for three years while she serves as a mission leader with her husband. So Sister Taylor bought 300 teeny tiny ducks from Amazon and she and her husband and kids hid the teeny ducks all over Sister Taylor’s parent’s home. (In her mom’s pill bottle, drawers, temple clothing bag etc.) That way, whenever her parents find a duck they will know that they are loved and that Robyn is thinking of them. Her parents have a few bowls all over the house that they have been putting the teeny ducks in after they find them. Well….Sister Taylor said that her 11 year old niece goes to the bowls and re-hides the ducks around the house. (And Sister Taylor didn’t even ask her niece to do that. Haha.) Anyway, Sister Taylor said that last Tuesday was kind of a rough long day for her and that when she and President Taylor got to their car here in Manhattan that someone had lined up a row of teeny little ducks on their car! Her parents live far away and she hadn’t told anyone about the ducks. But Sister Taylor called it a, “God Wink.” And it made her day!

Elder Matthew S. Holland of the Quorum of the 70 was the visiting authority at the stake conference. He sounds SO much like his father, Jeffrey R. Holland that I had to laugh to myself a few times. Elder Matthew Holland said that in New York City during stake conference (and any time), the young single adults could be doing SO MANY different things but they had chosen to come to church and worship. He said that that was very touching to him. Five Young Single Adults also spoke. One of the YSAs said that he is in a Master’s Program here in NY and always thought that he would go on to get a PHD but he said that the Master’s Program is so hard that he is rethinking his original plan. He said that his Master’s Program is even harder than finding a spouse. Haha.
