Often, when someone loses a job, they lose structure and routine. Getting it back can sometimes be difficult. Part of our job is to help them structure their job search and build it into a new routine. I often help people in this situation by talking about time management. It is important to move more of our time into the “important but not urgent” category from the “urgent not so important” category. Finding a job is so important that a little focus on perspective and shifting time to it by blocking the time on the calendar and sticking to it can boost a person’s effectiveness. Coaches are not just teachers, they’re motivators.
