June 18, 2025: Development Counselor and Yankee’s Baseball Game

We have been working closely with the North East Region Development Counselor, Kelsey Wilson. She has an office in Boston, but came to New York City last week with three of her bosses, from Utah/Las Vegas. Elder Brandenburg and I had meetings with them to discuss Employment Services in New York City. Some of the job seekers that we work with need to work with a Development Counselor before we can help them find employment. Many people have barriers that make it difficult for them to secure good jobs and have long-term self-reliance. These barriers may be related to employment history, mental health issues, or other personal or life challenges. Development Counselors help individuals overcome personal barriers and challenges that impact employability.

That evening we went to the Yankees and Angels Baseball game at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Sister Rose Ann Neff and her nephew, Derek Neff and his wife Sheila came with us! We sat on the third row of the second deck in right field. They ended up being the best seats for home runs that night. The first three home runs of the night were all hit to the second deck (first deck only has 8 or 10 rows). The first home run from the Angels second batter hit a home run that landed four seats away from us! Derek tried to catch it but just ended up with a bruised hand. Action-packed seats and a fun evening even though the Yankees lost. By the way, if you paused at the right moment, and searched closely, you could see us on Sportscenter when the homerun ball landed four seats away.
