October 25, 2024: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Saturday night we went out to dinner and then to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway. The show held many surprises and was mind blowing to me!

Some key lines that stood out to us include the following:

“There is never a perfect answer in this messy, emotional world. Perfection is beyond the reach of humankind, beyond the reach of magic. In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
“Destiny is a name often given in retrospect to choices that had dramatic consequences.”
“Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it.”
“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.”
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”

Cool! I (finally) found the blog. I remember reading this book and it was a bit weird to me. Hope the play and chillin’ with the Landriths was fun!

A good time with the Landriths! Neither of us have read the book the play was based on–I think it was more fun to be surprised by the story.

It was great to visit the Brandenburgs! Their missionary service is impressive and inspiring!
