July Subway: Hot, hot, hot. Maybe some flooding will cool it…

Subway stations in NYC get so hot in the summertime. They say the A/C in the train cars puts out a lot of heat into the tunnels and stations. The ventilation system simply cannot handle it all, so we roast. The brakes also generate a lot of heat that has no where to go. On hot days and even not so hot days, the stations seem 10-15 degrees hotter than outside. Smart subway riders (hmmmm.. tells you what kind of subway riders we are) have personal fans to provide some air flow. The rest of us simply bear it. Twice per day showers are definitely a NY summer thing if you ride the subway.

A station we pass by every commuting day was heavily flooded when the city received over 2 inches of rain in less than an hour. We were glad we were in our apartment when the rains and the flood came. I guess that’s one way to cool the subway stations. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMI4Y36u7Hh/
